Definition: Early redemption of debt instruments (including exchange)

ESA 1995

Whatever the instrument, a debtor may have the right to break the initial contract and offset his debt before the maturity date agreed at inception. In some cases, he must give notice at least before a specific period of time. The creditors are generally entitled to compensation.
