Definition: Special purpose entity (SPE)
Foreign AffiliaTes Stat. (FATS)
Category of enterprises which are created in order to serve the international revenue optimisation of enterprise groups. SPEs are usually located in countries offering corporate tax privileges, they are controlled from abroad and do not undertake any substantial economic activity in the country of residency.
