Relationship refers to relationship between the members of a household, (non-family relationship or what kind of family). There is no agreed international recommendation on household relationship to be followed.
Relationship codes:
- 1. Spouse, registered partner
- 2. Cohabite
- 3. Own child
- 4. Step/adopted/fostered child
- 5. Spouse/registered partner to person in category 3 or 4
- 6. Cohabitant to person in category 3 or 4
- 7. Sibling (both parents same), including partners sibling
- 8. Step/adopted/foster sibling
- 9. Grand child (including step/adopted/foster)
- 10. Own parent
- 11. Step/foster/adopted parent, guardian
- 12. Parent-in-law (including step/adopted/foster), including parent of cohabitant
- 13. Grand parent (including step/adopted/foster, of respondent or of respondents partner)
- 14. Other relative, own or of spouse/registered partner/cohabitant
- 15. Spouse/registered partner to person in category 7-14
- 16. Cohabitant to person in category 7-14
- 17. Not related.
