Definition: Parental leave benefit

ESSPROS Manual

Benefit paid to either mother or father in case of interruption of work or reduction of working time in order to bring up a child, normally of young age.

This definition is identical in versions 1996, 2008 and 2011 of the Manual.

This definition is also used in the Commission Regulation (EC) No 1980/2003 of 21 October 2003 implementing Regulation (EC) No 1177/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning Community statistics on income and living conditions (EU-SILC) as regards definitions and updated definitions.
