Definition: Multi-employer pension funds

Funds that pool the assets of pension plans established by various plan sponsors. 
There are three types of multi-employer pension funds:
a) for related employers i.e. companies that are
financially connected or owned by a single holding group (group pension funds);
b) for unrelated employers who are involved in the same trade or business (industry pension funds);
