Definition: Cross-currency interest rate swap

SNA

A cross-currency interest rate swap, sometimes known as a currency swap, involves an exchange of cash flows related to interest payments and an exchange of principal amounts at an agreed exchange rate at the end of the contract. 

This definition is used both in SNA 1993 (§ 11.38) and in SNA 2008 (§ 11.121).
