Population censuses
In construction statistics refers to the sum of the area or volume of each floor of the building measured to the outer surface of the outer walls. In housing statistics refers to the useful floor space in housing units, that is, measured inside the outer walls, excluding non-habitable cellars and attics. In multiple-dwelling buildings, common spaces are not included.
