Definition: Book reserved pension plans
Living conditions
Sums entered in the balance sheet of the plan sponsor as reserves or provisions for occupational pension plan benefits. Some assets may be held in separate accounts for the purpose of financing benefits, but are not legally or contractually pension plan assets. Most OECD countries do not allow this method of financing.
Those that do usually require these plans to be insured against bankruptcy of the plan sponsor through an insolvency guaranty arrangement.
